Understanding the dashboard
The dashboard is the first thing you see after signing in. This page walks through every region so nothing's mysterious.
Header
The top bar stays with you everywhere inside the app:
- SERPTool logo — returns to this dashboard.
- Dashboard / New analysis / Collections — core navigation. Admin users see an additional red Admin link.
- Credit balance — your live balance, updated on every action that debits credits. Click through to the credits explainer if it's not what you expect.
- Theme toggle — switch between dark and light. Dark is the default.
- User menu — profile, billing, and sign out.
Summary cards
Three stat cards give you the thirty-second overview:
- Total analyses — how many runs you've started, all time.
- Keywords analyzed — total keywords successfully processed. "Total submitted" beneath counts failures too.
- In progress — live count of queued or running analyses. This ticks up the moment you start a new run and drops to zero once the worker finishes.
Recent analyses
A list of your 20 most recent runs, newest first. Each card shows:
- Name — the title you gave the run.
- Status badge — Queued, Running, Complete, Failed, or Cancelled.
- Mode badge — KEYWORD, DOMAIN, or COMPETITOR.
- Progress line —
processed/total keywords · relative timestamp. A live progress bar underneath for running jobs. - Demo badge (on your first login only) — the pre-seeded sample analysis. Clickable just like any other. Drops to the bottom of the list as you run real work.
Clicking a card takes you into that analysis's results page. See the quick start guide for what to do there.
Empty state and the demo analysis
Brand-new accounts never actually see the empty state — a pre-loaded demo analysis sits at the top of the list with four sample keywords across different intents and weakness profiles. The demo has realistic SERP data but isn't connected to any live API: running the AI-mentions fetch on it is deliberately disabled so you can't accidentally spend real credits exploring.
What the dashboard doesn't show
A few things that live elsewhere because they'd be noise on the main view:
- Collections — cross-analysis keyword lists. Under the Collections nav link.
- Profile and billing — in the user dropdown.
- Credit history — on the profile page under the Credits tab.
- Purchases and invoices — profile → Billing tab.
- Admin tools (staff only) — user list, cost reports, manual credit grants, audit log.
Tips
- Dashboard updates are not live-streamed. Refresh if you're watching a long-running job; or click into the analysis itself to get the live-refresh view.
- The credit pill in the header updates whenever you reload. If you just bought credits via Stripe and the number doesn't match, force a refresh — the Stripe webhook took a second to land.
- All analyses are private to your account. Admins can view any user's analyses via the admin panel, but regular users cannot see each other.
